Now what?

I think many users of the EWS64XL have the same dilemma: upgrading to an up-to-date computersystem (without ISA-slots) and leaving the EWS out or keep a special system under Windows 98 for use with the EWS. Especially the absence of ISA slots on modern mainboards is the main bottleneck.
Of course there are alternative solutions, but they all have advantages as well as disadvantages:

  • If you upgrade to Win2k of WinXP it's not completely sure that you will get the EWS64XP to work again. Read our discussion forum, because there are users that were quite successful. Once you got it working, you have to opportunity to use the nice EWSProMix interface that was written by Uwe Kindler and Rogier Hofboer. This nice piece of work makes it even more difficult to say good-bye to your EWS ;-) EWSProMix will be available in XP version soon!
  • You can decide to forget about the XL and buy a DMX6fire. We couldn't try it yet, but we heard it's a very good card. Also the Lite version is available now for owners of the MicroWavePC.
  • You may decide to go for a completely different torture like the Soundblaster Platinum or Audigi. Believe me: less advanced and also a complete mess qua user interface.

Apart from that I have another problem: what destiny shall I choose for this site for the future to come? Feel free to give your opinion.

We are working on an improvement of the EWSoundZine. Therefore some pages are not available yet, others are still in the 'old' style.
